Step 4: Connect computer to printer via Remote USB connection

The FRITZ!Box-USB Remote Connection program offers two different ways to connect the computer to the printer:

  • An automatic connection is established automatically when the computer sends a print job to the printer. After the print job is completed, the connection is automatically terminated and the printer is available to other computers on the home network. The automatic connection is only established for print jobs, other functions of the printer cannot be used with this type of connection.
  • During a permanent connection, all printer functions (e.g. ink level indicator, fax/scanner functions) are available, but access to the printer is blocked for other computers in the home network.
Note: You can combine both options by activating the automatic connection for normal print jobs and only establishing a permanent connection if another function of the printer requires it.
